The majority of new cars on market today come with keyless fobs that allow drivers to lock or unlock their car without having to insert an actual key. They can be bulky and motorists are more likely to lose or break them.
BMW has introduced a new high-tech twist to their existing phone-as-key technology with the Display Key. This blog post will tell you all about it.
Keyless Entry
BMW Digital Key allows you to lock and unlock your vehicle by simply tapping your smartphone. To get started, simply download the app from the Apple Wallet or Google Play Store and follow the instructions on screen. Once you've connected your compatible mobile device to your BMW Connected account you can share access to up to five family members or friends members who also have the app. If someone accepts your invitation, they'll be able to unlock and start your vehicle without having to carry a physical key. This feature works without or with data connection, even if your phone is set to airplane mode.
BMW Smart Key is more than just a key that can unlock your car. You can use the BMW Smart Key to unlock the trunk as well as control your HVAC, check the fuel level and more. Battery Replacement

The tab should reveal a small groove. Use the tool to push in the small tab and then pull out the valet key to reveal the CR2032 battery within. Replace the old battery with a new one, and then put the cover back on.
If you own a Display Key that has a touchscreen, you will need to take a different approach. The Display Key is water resistant but not waterproof like the standard fob. You must be cautious about exposing it too much moisture. While it can survive an immersion in the washing machine, it's best to treat it as you would a smartphone -- don't worry about rain but keep it out from a water body.
